Itinerary

Day 1Cusco – Cachora – Chiquisca

At 5:00 AM, we begin our journey to Cachora, passing through Izcuchaca and visiting the archaeological site of Tarawasi. Continuing on, we reach the Cunyac Bridge and pass through Curawasi and Saywite before finally arriving in Cachora at 10:00 AM. Here, we prepare the pack animals and meet our muleteers before beginning the hike on a gentle incline towards the Capuliyoc Pass (2800 m.a.s.l.). After about two hours of walking, we’ll enjoy a lunch stop before continuing to the village of Chiquisca (1930 m.a.s.l.), where we will set up our first camp. Along the way, we will enjoy magnificent views of the Vilcabamba mountain range, the Apurímac Canyon, and beautiful, warm landscapes.

Day 2Chiquisca – Marampata – Choquequirao

After breakfast at 5:00 AM, we begin our hike towards Playa Rosalinas (1550 m.a.s.l.). Early in the day, we face the most challenging ascent, climbing towards Santa Rosa (2100 m.a.s.l.). After about three hours, we continue on to Marampata (2850 m.a.s.l.) along a gentler path, where we’ll enjoy views of the landscapes and flora, including orchids and violets. With some luck, we may even spot wildlife such as deer, anteaters, and various birds and insects. From Marampata, we will continue our journey to Choquequirao, where we’ll set up camp about an hour from the archaeological site.

Day 3Choquequirao – Playa Rosalinas

After an early breakfast, we head to the Choquequirao archaeological site, just an hour away, to witness the sunrise over this ancient Incan refuge. We’ll spend around three hours exploring the site with our guide, learning about its history. Afterward, we will return to our camp, descend to Santa Rosa for lunch, and continue on to Playa Rosalinas where we will set up camp for the night.

Day 4Playa Rosalinas – Cusco

After a hearty breakfast at 6:00 AM, we begin our return journey via the same route back to Cachora. The first part of the return is a gentler ascent towards Capuliyoc. From there, it’s a two-hour walk to Cachora, arriving around noon. On this final leg, we’ll pass through rich flora and fauna, with panoramic views of snow-capped mountains and the spectacular Apurímac Canyon. In the afternoon, we will head back to the imperial city of Cusco, where we will arrive by 6:00 PM, completing the trek.
