Discover a more cultural and less crowded route to Machu Picchu with the Lares Trek 4 days, a 4-day, 3-night adventure through high-altitude valleys, traditional Quechua communities, mountain lagoons, and some of the most impressive landscapes of the Peruvian Andes.
The journey begins with private transportation from Cusco to Lares, where the trekking experience takes you away from the busiest tourist routes and deeper into the rural landscapes of the Sacred Valley region.
During the trek, you will pass through communities such as Huacahuasi, Patacancha, and Willoq, where traditional Andean culture remains closely connected to everyday life. The route also takes you across the high-altitude Ipsay Pass before descending toward Ipsaycocha and eventually continuing to Ollantaytambo.
After completing the trekking portion, you will travel by train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes and spend one night in a hotel before visiting Machu Picchu on the final day.
The Lares Trek 4 days includes a professional bilingual guide, private transportation from Cusco to Lares, meals during the trekking program, camping equipment, horsemen and pack horses, first-aid equipment, an oxygen bottle, train tickets, round-trip bus transportation between Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu, one hotel night in Aguas Calientes, and your entrance to Machu Picchu.
If you're looking to reach Machu Picchu but want to avoid the crowds of the classic Inca Trail, the Lares trek 4 days is your perfect match. This route takes you through remote Andean valleys where the landscapes are untouched, the silence is sacred, and every step brings you closer to the heart of the Andes.
Unlike the traditional route, this trek feels personal, open, and raw. You’ll walk through places where few tourists go, giving you space to connect with the land, the mountains, and yourself.
What truly sets the 4 day Lares trek to Machu Picchu apart is the human connection. Along the way, you’ll pass through villages like Huacahuasi, Patacancha, and Willoq, where the Quechua culture remains alive and proud. You’ll see thatched stone houses, llamas and alpacas grazing freely, and children running through mountain fields wrapped in bright handwoven blankets.
You'll be welcomed into local homes, witness the weaving of intricate textiles, and feel what it's like to be part of a rhythm of life that hasn’t changed in generations. These are not staged encounters—they are real moments shared by real people.
This trek gives you the best of both worlds: a physical challenge with rewarding landscapes, and a cultural immersion that goes far beyond typical sightseeing.
You’ll bathe in the natural hot springs of Lares, sleep beside a high-altitude lagoon under the stars, and finally arrive at Machu Picchu not just as a visitor, but as someone who’s walked, learned, and connected deeply with the Andes.
The Lares trek to Machu Picchu 4 days isn’t just a hike—it’s a meaningful journey that stays with you long after the trail ends.
